One Day of Service

 PENATEKA LODGE FOOD DRIVE

Service – It’s What We Do!

“As the chieftain I exhort you, spend the day in arduous labor, working gladly, not begrudging, seek to serve, and thus be faithful to the high ideals and purpose of the Order of the Arrow.” – Allowat Sakima

 Black Arrow - November 1, 2008

Tosa Tasiwoo - November 8, 2008

Who: Coordinated by Penateka Lodge, Texas Trails Council

 Where:  Your Local Community.

Time:  Its up to you but no later than 2:00 p.m.

On Saturday, November 1 and 8 2008, Penateka Lodge will participate in the Order of the Arrow Southern Region One Day of Service Program.  The One Day program was started in 1996 and is an opportunity for Arrowmen throughout the Southern Region to join together in service all on the same day, so that the OA can make a significant and positive impact on the community.  In 2000 the Southern Region contributed over 10,000 hours of community service through the program, and this year’s goal is over 25,000 hours of community service.  To help the Region meet this goal Penateka Lodge needs every Arrowman in the council to participate.

For its One Day project Penateka Lodge will Conduct a food and necessities drive in your local communities.  Everything collected will benefit the Salvation Army as well as the food banks and food pantries in your town.  Arrowmen who want to participate in this worthwhile project need to work with your Scouting unit and Cub Scout Packs to arrange to pick up and drop off everything collected.

This project will benefit the community by making non-perishable food items and other necessities available for those who are in need an unable to provide for themselves.  The leaders of Penateka Lodge and the Texas Trails Council hope that every member of the lodge will participate in this project.  If any Arrowman has questions or would like more information about the project he can contact The Scout Office at 325-677-2688, Scouts@texastrailsbsa.org, or Bobby Lee.
