2008 DOUBLE MOUNTAIN WINTER CAMPOREE December 12, 13, and 14
Registration Form | Full Flyer | Map to Camp Boothe Oaks Double Mountain District will hold its annual Winter Camporee at Camp Booth Oaks Girl Scout Camp, south of Sweetwater, Texas. There will be Scout Skills competitions for the Patrols during the day, followed by a Dessert cook-off from the patrols and a Scoutmasters Minute competition.. Prizes will be awarded to the winning Patrol and the winning Scoutmaster. Cost is $7.00 per scout with 1 registered leader free per 5 scouts registered. We have a special patch if your troop makes 2007, 2008, and 2009 Double Mountain Winter Camporee. (Just have to wait until next year to find out.) Webelos are welcome to come. They must attend with a troop. You will need to bring your water! ***Ground fires may be allowed, we are not under a burn ban at this time. Come prepared for the possibility that fires may not be allowed. *** Penateka Lodge will offer a Brotherhood Conversion for those interested. Camp Booth Oaks Girl Scout Camp is located in Nolan County, Southwest of Sweetwater. Follow I-20 to Exit 244 and onto SH 70 toward San Angelo. Travel on SH70 five (5) miles South to FM1809: turn right (west) onto FM1809: Continue to CR145 and look for the Camp Boothe Oaks entrance to the right off of CR145. ** NOTES ** Scout Competitions will be centered on basic Scout skills and teamwork. Come prepared to be surprised by some new challenges. Visiting Webelos may form their own patrol, participate with their host Troop, or simply observe and encourage the competition. The Scoutmaster Minute competition is an opportunity to present your best story, tall-tale, or meaningful thought to the closing campfire assembly. We ask all Scoutmasters to participate or at least have one adult representative from each Troop make a presentation. It is suggested the presentation be limited to three (3) minutes +/- The entire troop will have a opportunity to help with a service project on Saturday afternoon to benefit the gracious host for this years Winter Camporee.
