2011 Texas Trails Council Philmont TrekPhilmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico is comprised of 137,000 acres in and around the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in northeastern New Mexico. It is a highlight of any youth or adult Scouting experience. It takes strength and determination to complete the arduous trek, which is typically over 50 miles in length over the course of 12 days. All crews will be filled to a maximum number of 12 participants per crew, and no more than 4 adults will be allowed per crew. More adults means fewer youth can attend. All participants must be 14 by Jan. 1, 2011, or completed the 8th grade and at least 13 by the day the trek begins, as well as pass Philmont weight and health guidelines.
