Shooting Sports

The Shooting Sports Area boasts three ranges, and offers a variety of shooting experiences through the Archery, Shotgun Shooting, and Rifle Shooting (including the Muzzleloading option) merit badges.

Nature/Ecology/Conservation (NATECO)

NATECO is an area that features the wild animals and beautiful surroundings of Camp Tonkawa. Environmental Science, Fish and Wildlife Management, Mammals, Weather and Astronomy are offered at NATECO.

Tonkawa Braves

This program is the pride of Tonkawa. It is designed for new Scouts and those coming to Camp Tonkawa for the first time to work on their Tenderfoot through First Class requirements. The program is designed as a "hands on" experience for the Scouts.

Project Cope

Project COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) is an advanced camper program that offers a set of stimulating activities designed to meet the needs of today's young people who are seeking greater challenges to their physical and mental abilities.  This is a half day program that allows Scouts to also earn their BSA Lifeguard.

Cycling

New in 2000, this program teaches the basics of cycling and most of the requirements of the Cycling merit badge, and features a challenging off-road bike trail through a variety of terrain features.

Climbing

New for 2002, a 35-foot climbing and rappeling tower allows Camp Tonkawa to offer a half-day, afternoon program where Scouts can learn about Climbing and Rappelling, hone their ropes skills, and fulfill the Climbing requirements.
