Distinguished Citizen Award Richard Spalding
Richard L. Spalding serves as President and CEO of Serenity Foundation of Texas which operates drug and alcohol treatment facilities. He holds membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is former President of the Association of Substance Abuse Programs and former Member of the Advisory Council of the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. He is President of Claude and Mae Moses Charities, Inc. He is also President of Spalding Proprieties, Inc. and Vice President of Spalding Energy, Inc., both engaged in oil and gas acquisition. He is President of Spalding Management which is related to fundraising and instructional development, strategic planning and other management services. Dick served from February 1983 through October 1988 as President of James P. Dunigan, Inc. and Dunigan Petroleum, Inc., companies engaged in the production and acquisition of oil and gas reserves. From August 1973 through February 1983 Dick served in various capacities with Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, including interim President and Founding President of the Hendrick Medical Center Foundation. For seven and one-half years he served as Executive Director of Texoma Medical Center. He is a specialist in strategic planning and fundraising, and has consulted or conducted retreats on these matters for art organizations, oil and gas companies, accounting firms, hospitals and healthcare organizations, and numerous other business. Spalding has served as master of ceremonies, speaker and entertainer for hundreds of events. Dick and his wife, Kaye have three children, all graduates of Baylor University and seven grandchildren. The Spalding’s are members of First Baptist Church. The Texas Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America is proud to salute Dick Spalding a "Good Scout, Good Samaritan, and Good Friend" by his "Good Example" to his fellow man and community.
