He was born in 1948 in Weatherford, Oklahoma where he was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and an Explorer. He was a Life Scout and earned the God & Country Award. In Abilene he has been an Assistant Webelos Leader, Troop Committee Member, Assistant Scoutmaster, and Scoutmaster since 1985 of Troop #258. He has been on the Council Executive Board for four years and Council Vice President of Program since 1986. He is a graduate of Timber Tag 58 and Wood Badge SC 265-20. He is a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow and has been a leader for a Philmont Expedition.

He played football, basketball and ran track in High School and received a B.S. Degree at Southwestern State College where he was awarded the Outstanding Pre-Med Student Award. He received his medical degree in 1974 from Oklahoma University. His medical practice is in the field of opthalmology and surgeries of the eye.

He sings in the choir and has worked in the R.A. Program for youth at the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He is a member of the Founders Lions Club and serves as Medical Advisor for the Lions District 2-El Eye Bank. He is a member of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and the Sierra Club. He is a member of several medical societies and associations.

He and Diana have a daughter who has been active in Girl Scouts and a son who is an Eagle Scout. Both attend school at Wylie. His father is an Eagle Scout and has been a District Chairman.
