He was born in Shamrock, Texas and was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Explorer. After getting his B.A. and Masters Degrees from North Texas State University, he received Doctorate from the Baylor College of Dentistry in 1973.

Since moving to Sweetwater Scouting has been his main interest outside the practice of Dentistry. In 1977 he became Cubmaster or Pack 146 sponsored by the East Ridge School PTA.

The Pack was very active under his leadership and after two years as Cubmaster he became Webelos Leader for the same Pack. That is a great position to prepare a person to become Scoutmaster of one of the oldest troops in the Chisholm Trail Council - Troop #140 sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Sweetwater. He will soon complete 4 years in that position.

At the same time he has found the time to serve on the Council Executive Board for several years and has also served as District Chairman of the Northern District. He has completed Timber Tag and Wood Badge. He has been very active in the Order of the Arrow and is a Brotherhood member. He has been honored with the District Award of Merit.

Although Scouting has been his main outside interest, he has made significant contributions in other areas of community life. He has been a member of the Lions Club for 9 years and is currently President of the Downtown Club in Sweetwater. He has served on the Board of the Nolan County Red Cross, Chairman of the Professional Division of the Nolan County United Way, and is past president of the Sweetwater Rifle & Pistol Club. He is a member of Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity and a member of the Texas and National Dental Societies.

His wife, Karen, is a most important part of his success.
