Silver Antelope Award - 1991 The Silver Antelope Award, created in 1942, is granted for outstanding service to youth within the territory of a BSA region. The criteria are similar to those for the Silver Buffalo, with one major difference: A recipient must be a registered adult member of the Boy Scouts of America. The awards are presented in connection with regional meetings or at other public functions within the region. The National Court of Honor bestows Silver Antelope Awards on the basis of the number of registered volunteers in a region.
Dr. Dale Brannom was a Cub Scout, a Boy Scout and an Explorer who earned the Eagle Scout Award. He was an Explorer Ranger, an Air Scout Ace, and is a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. He has served in numerous Scouting positions Including: Council Executive Board Member, Council President, Council Commissioner, Regional Board Member, National Committee on Boy Scouting, National Committee on Advancement. He has been recognized as a Distinguished Eagle Scout because of service to his community and nation in the field of medicine. He was presented with the Silver Beaver Award by his council in 1984. Dr. Brannom was born in Houston and attended the University of Texas where he was an honor student and received a BS in Pharmacy. He received his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch In Galveston. He was President of the Medical Staff at Humana Hospital in Abilene, 1981 to 1983. Currently the Medical Director at Humana Hospital, he maintains affiliations with: Texas Radiological Society, Texas Medical Association, American Heart Association, Texas Department of Health, West Texas Council of Governments, Abilene Zoological Society, Ben Richey Boys Ranch, the Abilene Taylor County Board of Health, and the Episcopal Church. Dr. Brannom has demonstrated a strong commitment toward adult leader training and has served on the staff of five Wood Badge courses. He is an Eagle Scout that continues to serve his community following the principle of the Scout Oath and Law. Dr. Brannom and his wife, Ernestine, are the parents of two grown children.
