JAMES SIMPSON

He entered Scouting as an adult in 1962 as an Assistant Cubmaster. He became a member of the Pack Committee in 1964 and served until 1966 when he became the Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 279. He held that position until he became the Scoutmaster in the same troop in 1970. He served in this capacity until May of 1974 when he became a member of the Troop Committee and has been active ever since. He functioned as Southern District Scout Roundtable Commissioner for several years.

He attended Timber Tag Number 27 and received his Woodbadge beads after completing Class 339. He is a permanent member of the Timber Tag staff and is most famous as "Timmy Tenderfoot". Vocationally, he is the Radio and TV Service Instructor at Abilene High School. He is a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, Abilene Classroom Teachers Association, Texas State Teachers Association, Texas Vocational Teachers Association, and the American Vocational Association. He is the Sponsor of Abilene High School’s Vocational Industrial Club of America.
