ABE TURNER

This man became an Eagle Scout in 1951 and since that time he has been active in the Scouting program as an adult.

For five years he has served as a member of the Chisholm Trail Council Executive Board. For the past two years he has served the board as a Vice President.

This busy man, like so many great Scouters, has found time to serve as a Scoutmaster. For the past two years he has been Scoutmaster of Troop 31 in Haskell.

He received his degree in Agriculture from Texas Tech in 1954. He began working in the banking business at this time and in September 1969 he was elected president of the Haskell National Bank.

He has served his church as a leader in the First Baptist Church Youth Department and a Sunday school teacher. He has served two terms on the Haskell School Board, three terms as president of the Haskell Chamber of Commerce, three terms as Junior Chamber president. He is a member of the Rotary Club and the Board of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce.

The National Court of Honor of the Boy Scouts of America takes great pride in presenting the Silver Beaver to Abe Turner at Haskell, Texas.
