Austin is from Abilene and an Eagle Scout. Austin is married to Susan who is President of the Abilene School Board. Austin and Susan92s have three children; Helen Stockstill, Eagle Scout Lewis, and Martha. Austin was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout earning Eagle. He earned his God and Country Award and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. He attended the National Jamboree in 1965. Austin has served as Merit Badge Instructor for Medicine and Aviation. He served as Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 214. Austin was adult leader for a trek to Philmont with Troop 2124. Austin is currently a member of the Texas Trails Council Executive Board; Chair of the Annual Sporting Clays Event; member of the Texas Trails Council Heritage Society; and has participated in the annual Philmont Heritage Society trips. Austin is an Elder at First Central Presbyterian Church. Hs is a founding board member of Advancing Babies and Chances Program and member of the Abilene Rotary Club. Austin is currently a vice-president of the Presbyterian Medical Care Mission; member of the Taylor County Health Endowment Committee; Abilene Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee (Honorary Base Commander); and on the advisory council for Cancer Services Network. Austin is past board member of the Abilene Opera Association and past board member of the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Austin is a physician in Abilene in private practice otolaryngology, head and neck surgery. Austin is owner of Elm Place Ambulatory Surgical Center; Co-Director of Voice Institute of West Texas; founding member/investor in West Texas Hospital; a consultant in otolaryngology at Abilene State School; a consultant in otolaryngology for the Houston Grand Opera. Austin was also the subject of an article in Texas Monthly titled Vocal Heroes in July 2000.
Dr. John Estes has been involved in the Boy Scouts of America since 1958 and obtained the rank of Life Scout. He and his wife Angela Clovis Estes have been married for 32 years. They have twins, John L. Estes LV and Dr. Gwin Estes Huey, and James Estes. John has been involved in his sons92 Scouting careers, and both are Eagle Scouts. John served as Cubmaster for Pack 217 from 1987-1991 and Troop Committee Chairman in Troop 201 from 1992-1998. He led high adventure trips to Minnesota Boundary Canoe Base, Florida Sea Base, and Philmont Scout Ranch. He attended the National Jamboree in 1964 and 1997, and served as Assistant Scoutmaster for the 2001 National Jamboree. John has served as Merit Badge Counselor and as Texas Trails Council Vice President of Finance from 2001 to present. John is a member of University Church of Christ where he serves as deacon. He participated in Bible Study Fellowship as a member and leader for over 8 years. He has served on the Abilene Christian Schools Board since 1982. Dr. Estes graduated from Abilene Christian University and the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston and has practiced general dentistry in Abilene for the past 30 years. He has been a member on the Medical Staff at Hendrick Health System since 1976 and is serving as Chair of the Dental Section. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and 17th District Dental Society, where he has served on the board and as a Committee Member, and participated in Dental Health Education and National Give Kids a Smile Day. John has participated in the Zambia Medical Mission Trip to Kalomo, Zambia for 6 years providing dental care to under served areas. He spends his spare time ranching, and he enjoys traveling, horseback riding, and hunting.
Pam Rider is from Brownwood. Pam is married to Bob. Pam has two daughters, Amanda and Stephanie and one grand daughter, Madison. Pam served from 1997-2001 as assistant Scoutmaster, Troop 1 in Brownwood; 2001-2004 as Kickapoo District Committee Program Chair; 2000-present as Associate Crew Advisor, Crew 2000, Lampasas; 2002-present as Assistant Scoutmaster Troop 14, Brownwood. From 1999-2004 Pam served on the Council Training Team and in 1998 and 2003 attended National Camp School for Aquatics Director. Pam served from 1998-present as Texas Trails Council Aquatics Director. From 2001-2004 Pam was Program Director Cub Scout Fun & Son and Pinewood Derby and Pushmobile; from 2000-2003 she served as co-chair for council camporees; and as a committee member for the West Texas Rendezvous in 2000, 2002 & 2004. In 2000 Pam served on the National Jamboree Staff; 2001 NOAC Contingent; and in 2004 as an adult leader for Philmont Trek 703-N1. In 1998 she completed Woodbadge; in 2000 served on Woodbadge 5R379 staff as Troop Guide; and in 2003 served on Woodbadge SR 548 staff as Assistant Scoutmaster. Pam has also completed her training for Commissioner Service. Pam has received the Scouter Training Award, District Award of Merit, Arrowman Service Award, Arrowman Bronze Service Award and Arrowman Gold Service Ward. Pam is a Vigil member of Penateka Lodge. Pam is a member of First Baptist Church, Brownwood, TX. Pam has been a teacher for 28 years in Special Education, currently with Early ISD. From 2001-present Pam has served as President of the Early Chapter of Texas Classroom Teachers Association and from 1995-2003 as the Early High School Cheerleader Sponsor. |
